Article marketing is the practice to writing article to be distributed online to a given target market. This form of digital marketing is frequently used by Internet Marketers and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) practitioners. But is it still effect given the most recent and on-going changes in the major search engines…specifically Google? It’s important that we take a common sense approach here and take the time to consider a few basic angles whilst approaching this topic.
The first point I’ll make is that it’s quality over quantity every single time! If your articles consist of poorly structured arguments and terrible grammar then your efforts may be wasted. If you aren’t much of a writer yourself then hire a talented writer to assist you.
My second point is that it matters where you submit the articles…which directories you submit them to. This element of article marketing is so vitally important to the overall success of your article marketing efforts.
So, in summary, we need high quality articles, preferably ones which are professionally written and we need these great articles to be distributed to great article sites – ones which Google thinks highly of.
But does article marketing still work? Well, yes it’s always worked if done correctly, as above. But it is becoming harder and harder to rank sites – you’ll need to write more, partly because there is more competition for the key words and search terms that you’re trying to rank for. It’s also important to note that it has never been a good strategy to just do article marketing. You need to have a SEO strategy or Internet Marketing strategy which consists of a range of different efforts…a holistic strategy if you will. In essence, you need a STRATEGY and you need to stick to it. Don’t just ask questions like “does article marketing work” because the answer will always be…everything of quality works, in the right combinations, in the right amounts!
